This lovely family is back for the newborn photos of baby #2. They drove a long way to my house for the photos to be done in my studio. It was a delight to have them all in the images. Sometimes its just baby or baby and mama. Mama may need a break from other small kids so that has it’s advantages too. But having the whole family in the images is really a gift for the new mama to treasure for years to come. I have a large lego table that kept big sister occupied for all the times she was waiting.
I can come to you in your home as well. Which is great in many ways. The images are unique to your surroundings. You don’t have to go anywhere. You can nurse them right before I come. Sometimes the drive messing up the sleeping part. But I love awake photos so it’s something to consider when you book. Or if you have other kiddos with more energy they are probably easier to occupy at home with all their things. Just know that my preference is your preference. Your comfort is my goal. And I’m sure that’s different for every mama.
Tips for a successful newborn session in your home would be:
*a long feeding before I arrive in a diaper and blanket only if you can swing it.
*white noise to mask the noise of me. I’m not that loud but the camera even with the beep turned off still has a click.
*a very warm room. I’m be sweating and that’s ok. I have a heating pad in my bin ready to go.
*snacks for older siblings
*Book before they turn two weeks so they are as sleepy as possible. I’m pretty flexible and have open times midweek if you’re nervous about not getting in.
*Let me know what blankets, hats, or anything memorable you want to include are. This gives me time to purchase coordinating items. I have a lot of props, but I like to get new things for each shoot. I know it’s a terrible habit.
*Don’t stress. Crying does not bother me. Kids are kids. I worked at a dental office so I’ve worked with kids 10 years before the 8 years I’ve photographed them. Cleaning their teeth was 100% more challenging. Believe me.
Hopefully some of these tips help ease your mind and let you have a zen experience.
There are two things in this world that can make you better when you are feeling blue….puppies and babies. When this joy arrived I was at the lowest of lows in my personal life. We tragically lost a family member at the end of January. Time stood still for a very long time. So seeing this little babe was just what the doctor ordered. He has a perfect face with perfect skin and he had lots of smiles for me. His parents unknowingly gave me a gift. The gift of a much needed distraction. I will forever be grateful for that time I spent with Samuel on his ninth day of life.
I’m ready to come back and play. I have a weakness for the newbies. They turn me to mush and my face hurts from the constant smiling. I get the butterflies and numbness in my arms because I’ve held them too long and my biceps arent toned up. I love everything about these kinds of sessions.
This little joy just turned One. It’s the second time I’ve take her pictures and she is a doll. She’s much more mobile now, but always smiling and happy. Now she really is a little barre baby climbing like her siblings. You can see that in one of these images below.
She LOVED her cake and devoured as much as she could. She wasn’t very happy to part with it. It was so cute. And sharing is caring. I watched her share quite nicely. What a sweetiepie!
We did this shoot even though the weather was less than ideal. The cabana used was covered and some shots were indoors. So don’t worry about dark rainy days. Window light is the best! And I see that next week the sun is coming back out. A great time to get your fall photos or your yearly card photos for the end of the year.
Another new life arrived for photographs this week. She was 21 days new. She brought along her adorable big sister who enjoyed all of Olivia’s toys and patiently waited her turn. We started at Lake Rasmussen which is a close to my place. It was as beautiful as ever there. This was also the first time big sis (she is two) got to hold her sister. It was very sweet to watch. She was very gentle and loving as you can see.
I used some very precious tie backs from Carli. The white fawn and the green ones are from her shop. If you are local and make newborn props message me. I’d love to add some more pretties to my collection.
Here are just a few of my favorites of this darling family.
Summer has started at our house with a mean dose of allergies. But we press on through swim class, water balloon fights, and trampoline jumping. More to come for sure. So stay tuned! Maybe I’ll do a personal blog here soon.
A sweet beautiful baby girl came in the studio this past week. She preferred being awake which is fine by me. There is nothing like some eye contact from a new little baby. I could stare at newborns for hours. However, I have to be a busy bee if they snooze for a few minutes. And that’s what happened so I moved quickly during that few minutes. And at the end we did some headshots for her Dad.
I want to wish this family the best. They came to me before a move back to the islands. ~Aloha~ I’m glad we met before you left. You have such a beautiful little princess.
♥Sweet baby love on the blog this lovely Saturday♥
Baby number three in her family arrived and has been showered with love by her family and friends. Isn’t she just precious! I had so much fun playing with her and she looks so adorable in all her outfit changes. All the outfits are a collaboration her mother and I put together. The board with her name on it was an etsy find and I just adore it! Someday I’d like to craft one myself.
This was my sixth session I’ve had with this awesome family. I love seeing all the kids grow up. It’s a special part of my job. And all the baby snuggles are a fantastic part as well.
I hope you’ll enjoy these images with the same love I have for them.
Here’s a little man who stole my heart. He’ll call me Aunty. And I may spoil him because that’s what Aunties do. My daughter is also obsessed with him and all the things she will teach him to do and to eat. She talks about him daily. There is something special about cousins isn’t there.
Since I know his Daddy really well, I knew what theme would be perfect~ A tiny little fisherman. I had the little outfit for months waiting his arrival. The adorable knit outfit is from https://www.etsy.com/shop/HatCharacters?ref=below-listing-title. The fishing rod detail is amazing. I wish I had knitting skills like that.
Have you ever met someone and realized later that you had met previously? Well this happened to me with this beautiful mother. It had been about 6 years or so when her son was a young toddler. We met at a mutual friend’s baby shower. I guess I don’t forget faces. Especially ones that I’ve photographed. Names on the other hand I don’t have a clue two seconds after I’m told most of the time. I’ll have to try the rhyming game to get that down.
We had a great time together at the park running and exploring. Spring here is just as pretty as the fall with the willow trees and tiny budding flowers among the grass. Also along the boardwalk were a forest of ferns growing. It was beautiful. I want to go back and see more with my family soon.
And this baby with her tongue. Be still my heart. What a doll!!!
This little cutie was back for her one year photos. The highlight of course was the cake smash. It was exploding with cuteness for me to watch her devour her cupcake. She didn’t hesitate for a second to begin digging in. Just a few crumbs remained.
Since the weather had been so terrible, dark, and rainy I’ve had many of my sessions postpone in hopes of the sun making an appearance. But this doll could come hang in the studio. So we had no problems capturing her curious nature and that million dollar smile (I had that saying said about my daughter so it makes me laugh inside to write it out with the memory attached to her too).
After a year goes by you see this totally different tiny human arrive. It’s really amazing. One thing remained the same, however, her sweet happy nature and the joy in her mamas eyes as she watches her. I’m sure I have the most obnoxious smile on my smile observing. So pay no attention to my expressions while I photograph you. Inside my head I’m screaming I LOVE MY JOB! Next up are a couple of family sessions. So make sure to come back for a peek.
Ahhhh, the day it snowed was this little guy’s afternoon session. So after sledding, snowman building, snowball fights, and hot cocoa I headed over for my baby fix and met my neighbors.
The little guy was so content and happy. The moment he started to the fuss his daddy, the baby whisperer, had some amazing tricks that soothed him immediately. They also had a 10 month old puppy that was smitten by the new edition. He nuzzled him and laid gently beside him. It was so sweet to watch. I don’t think I’ve seen a dog behave with a newborn so well so young.
It was pretty much a perfect day for me. It was a gift. I followed up with one more session to close out 2016. What a wonderful year for my little business. Not every shoot was blogged, but if you look back I had quite of variety of sessions. Congratulations to the engagements, babies, weddings, and graduates this past year. It’s touches me deeply to observe all these life moments and to see your children grow each year. I’ve met so amazing people from all over our area. In fact, this was a funny encounter. As I went in to get my teeth cleaned over the summer I saw a previous coworker and friend who was finishing up her last patient that happened to be her son in law. She introduced us and I was like…. I know you. I had taken his headshot, a few months back, and worked along side him at a wedding a few years back. What are the chances we would have that connection. We live in such a small world sometimes.
Anyways, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all your support, kind works, referrals, and the hugs too. I hope to capture you all again next year.
